Objectives
To gain an insight into the different aspects of chemical analysis of soils, horticultural substrates, plants and irrigation water, in view of giving expert advices.
Prerequisites
Third year industrial engineer agriculture and biotechnology
Topics
The first chapter deals with the most important (physico)-chemical methods for the analysis of soils and horticultural substrates. Special attention is given to the following aspects: methods of sampling, sample preparation, principles of the analytical methods, calculation and interpretation of the results. The second chapter treats the different aspects of plant analysis. As well the mineral composition as some quality parameters are discussed. The third chapter discusses the different parameters affecting the quality of irrigation water; and the chemical methods for their assesment.
