Translation of business texts and use of appropriate sources. Consecutive interpreting of short business-related texts.

2nd year Translation and Interpreting for Business


Topics
- Chapters from Handboek voor de Vertaler that have not been dealt with in the 2nd year, are now discussed: links, adjuncts with the substantive, punctuation. These chapters emphasise translations of grammatical structures.
- Separate syllabus with 4 units: banking and finance, restaurants and menus, insurance, tourism. Each unit comprises correspondence, brochures, glossaries, media articles, instructions. They serve as a backbone for the interpreting exercises. Translating grammatical structures is combined with substantial extension of vocabulary.
