Objectives Focussing on special techniques for manufacturing textile products, more specifically the different carpets and non-wovens.
This is an absolute necessity as some of these special techniques are extremely important for the Belgian textile industry.
Explanation of loop informations, basis weaves and more complex knitting patterns and machines for weft knitting, circular knitting and warp knitting. Explanation of faults in the knitwear production.
Prerequisites
Topics T : The non-woven part consists of two sections. The first section deals with the stichbonding technique, more specifically, a description of the different types of machines and the possible stich formation. A second section concerns methods to produce non-wovens, viz. the web forming and binding. Attention is also paid to the raw materials used in non-wovens. The part concerning knitwear involves weft knitting, circular knitting and warp knitting techniques.
O : Exercises (practical and theoretical) on the different patterns.
Teaching Methods Theory : Lectures accompanied with slides and documentation provided by machine manufacturers of their representatives.
Exercises : solving exercises, analysing kniywear, working with machines.
