Objectives
Acquire a broad knowledge about the most important vegetable crops for greenhouse cultivation in the field of plant characteristics and growing systems. A lot of crops can be cultivated in soils but also soilless and hydroponic cultures become more and more important;
Practices for diverse cultures have to be demonstrated


Topics
Treatment of the most important greenhouse vegetables is discussed as follows:
Botanical aspects, assortment of cultivars, culture conditions of young plants, growing schedules, nutrition and fertilisation, techniques to control growth factors, plant infections and diseases , harvest methods and commercialising of end products.
The crops are separately discussed in order of importance or of affinities: tomato, cucumber, sweet pepper, lettuce, endive, lamb's lettuce, radish, courgette, asparagus, celery, strawberries.
