Objectives The aim is to give the student an insight in the actual fruit growing practices in Belgium. A discussion is given of the basis principals of the culture of apples and pears and of the applications in practice.
As attitudes have to be obtained : planting, take care of and pruning of commercial fruit trees; harvesting, conserving and commercialising of fruits.

- Fruit crops : cultivars and rootstocks; economically important crops and growing systems for apple, pear, prunes, cherries and small fruits.
- The culture of apple and pear in detail : planting systems, tree forms, growing and pruning systems, growth regulation, integrates pest management.
