Objectives
Provide the students the knowledge and understanding in the biochemical composition of organisms and the biochemical processes.

Topics
The course reviews and explores:
  • The constitution and the role of the biopolymers: the proteins, the polysacharides, the lipids and the nucleic acids.
  • The structure and physiology of the proteins in organisms.
  • The enzymes: catalysis, activity, inhibition, classification and applications.
  • The metabolism of the saccharides: photosynthesis, metabolism of the hexoses and the polysaccharides.
  • Formation and breakdown of lipids.
  • Nitrogen metabolism.
  • Introduction in regulation of the metabolisms.
