Objectives The aim is to present the essentials of statistics typical of research in human communication disorders, in such a way that the student should be able to (1) grasp statistical analyses in research literature and test manuals and to (2) set up a simple experiment using univariate statistics.
Topics Population, samples and variables. Nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio data levels . Hypothesis testing and the concept of significance. The concept of ANOVA. Measures of central tendency and dispersion. Linear correlation and regression. Chi-square tests. t-tests. Non-parametric tests. Confidence intervals.
