Objectives

The students should understand that a good design is a result of a good
design process: a good methodology, the exact formulation of the goals and a
good choise of the tools, together with some fundamental aspects of 21th
century design.


Topics

Technology, the steps in the production of chips. Low level lay-out and
stick diagrams. Design of analogue components: inverter, OTA, OPAMP. The
relation between a HDL hardware description and the automatic synthesis.
Testing and testability. PLD's.
