Key words
Objectives
To let the student obtain insight in the action and the behaviour of the
basic electrical machines (except the induction machine). The student has to
learn the modelling and the equivalent circuits of the machines. They have
to apply the equivalent circuits to the calculations of the loaded machines.
In the lab the students have to make the connections of the machines and
they have to study the characteristics and the behaviour of the machines in
practical situations.
Topics
Theory: 1. Introductory notions of electricity
2. Direct current machine
3. Synchronous machine
4. Transformer
Lab: Measurements of the basic properties (efficiency, torque, number of
revolutions,...)
Action of the machine as generator and as motor.
Measurements of power.
Prerequisites
The knowledge of the basic course "Electricity" from the first year is
necessary.
Final Objectives
Materials used
Teacher's course
Study costs
Study guidance
Teaching Methods
Lectures, excercises, experiments in the lab.
Assessment
Oral examinations, written tests.
