Objectives
The students gain a basic knowledge of music theory, singing and recorder playing. The develop their own musical expression abilities. The students gain insight in the meaning of sound and music within the total development of infants. The students are able to elaborate simple musical games and 2 musical activities.

Topics
In course part music theory the students become acquainted with the parameters of music. Practical training by means of infant songs. A repertory of songs is built up. Much attention is paid to practising. The recorder is used to learn infant songs. Voice and hearing training occupy a central place. Much attention is paid to movement in function of movement. As far as teaching methodology is concerned, careful thought is given the specific musical development of infants. The experiences and observations by the students in practice-teaching schools are taken as a basis. 3 activities are studied: to learn a song, to play with music and musical games.

Study guidance
The students are assisted to a limited extent, by appointment (small groups). There are practice cassettes available. In the event of serious problems (singing technique - speech therapy) the students are referred to specialists outside the school.
