Objectives
- Gaining and developing insight into the evolution of Europe and into the present-day and future international relationships by observing, comparing, interpreting and explaining of texts, statistical figures, internet data and video material.
- Sensitization for present-day European topics, which teaches the student to have a better understanding of Europe and moreover, enables them to valorize the continent. A preparation of the professional and social life in an European socio-economic perspective.
Topics With respect to content, special attention is drawn to uniformity and diversity, to the origins and development of the European Union, EU decision-making institutions, treaties and their consequences, the Economic and Monetary Union and the Euro, regional development within the EU and the future of Europe within a European Union

Teaching Methods
- The work book contains subject material and work structures with exercises and tasks. If possible, excursions (for example to Brussels) or lectures of eminent guest speakers will be organized. There will also be a possibility to participate in conferences and workshops.
- The two European exhibitions "European corner" (next to the school library) and "Panorama of the European Union" (on the third floor) will also form an integral didactical part of the course.
Assessment First exam session: written exam 70% and permanent assessment 30%.
Second exam session: written exam 100%.
