Objectives
Students should be able to give a summary of the different workfields of the remedial-educational care worker. They can give an idea of what is required of a remedial educationalist since the introduction of the science till now. They can make links with other sciences for socio-educational work and explain the practice by implementing theories.
The course should be completed by additional literature.
Topics
The course means to give an introduction into technical terminology and a survey of insights of remedial-educational work.The workfield of the remedial-educational worker, more specifically persons with a handicap and children in problematic educational situation is overviewed.The evolution of the care throughout history is discussed ending in actual debateson subjects like emancipation and integration. Emotional co nsequences for the person with a handicap and his family is treated. Different caremodels are compared and evaluated from the point of view of remedial educational work.
