Objectives
The content of this course provides a context in which one can think about and debate on society and the living en working situation. There will be room for the question what people do, with or against each other, in what situation; and how people are being influenced by their previous en recent experiences. In a certain type of society social grounded principles are the foundation of social phenomena. The students have to understand how such principles can have a different content in different situations.

Sociology, definition and framework; Socialisation, values, norms and institutions, social position, rol, social status and social control,; The family, functions and evolution; Culture, components; Groups, types, properties, significance; Social stratification and inequality, social mobility; Power and authority; Deviant behavior, causes, consequences and reactions.
