Objectives The students
- explain the phenomenon of a multicultural society in general and specific in the Belgium
- express correctly the meaning of concetps as cultural identity, discrimination, etnocentrism, cultural relativism, etc...
- analyse themselves and their surrounding through these concepts
- function in the workseting on the basis of their intercultural competences
Topics 1. short introduction in the key concepts of anthropology
2. historical schedule of the multicultural dimension in Flanders/Belgium
3. explication of concepts cultural identity, subculture, etnocentrism, discrimination,...
4. exploration of some non westen worldviews
5. tools for comparison
6. exploration of the link between education and culture
7. techniques to cope with cultural diferences in the daily orthopedagogic practice
