Objectives
In the perspective of an evolution towards a greater importance of the natural environment and of green area's it is important to obtain a good idea of growth, development and management of trees as well in a forest as park or lane situations.
This course intends to give an extension of "ornamental trees" concerning the use of trees in forest environments and in urban conditions as an intensely visited park.

General definitions , functions of forests and parks; economic, social and ecological aspects
Forests and arboriculture in Belgium and Flanders
Artificial forestation , natural rejuvenation, management of forests, types of forests, wood products
Layout and management of parks , tree planting and establishment, maintaining tree health.


Prerequisites
- General Botany
- Horticultural plant growing and techniques.

Final Objectives
- Practical application of woodsmanagement
- Care of parks and urban green zones.
