Objectives
To gain insight in the ecological and biological processes of grassland management and to obtain knowledge about the growth process and - pattern of fodder crops. Especially the relation between crop husbandry measures and fodder quality is studied. Following fodder crops are included: maize, fodder beets, alfa alfa and temporary grass production.

Topics
Growth and development, anatomy and morphology, yield pattern and modelling, grass species (varieties) and grassland management, sowing technique, fertilisation, disease and pest management, quality aspects of yield and breeding aspects, relation grass quality and animal health, conserving techniques, quality factors of grass and fodder.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of plant science en genetics

Final Objectives
After taking the course the students must be able to grow pasture and green fodder products and to store them in an integrated way.
