Objectives
The goal is to obtain a large knowledge of houseplants, cutflowers and herbaceous ornamental plants, including a correct nomenclature and cultural requirements.
As attitudes have to be obtained propagation and caring of ornamental plants and an overview of the trade of floricultural plants.
In this way an efficient communication in the sector and in floricultural research can be prepared.


Topics
Nomenclature rules and plant knowledge : basics of the botanical and horticultural code.
Discussion of the most important plant families with cutflowers , houseplants and herbaceous garden plants.
For each species are given the habit, flowering characteristics, shelf and storage life , possibilities of use ...
The culture of azalea's is discussed in depth and some important cultures are also : Anthurium, chrysanthemum, Ficus, Kalanchoe, Saintpaulia, Gerbera, ...
For each plant the cultural requirements are summarised: propagation techniques , growth control, substrates and fertilisation , water, light and temperature, pest management.


Prerequisites
Knowledge and practical application of charticultural plant growing and techniques.

- Application of the main topics of floriculture
