Objectives
The purpose is to provide a broad explanation of breeding methods and - principles. With several case studies a practical insight is given in the selection and multiplication, breeding - and multiplication techniques. Exercises must introduce students in crossing, observations multiplication and practical breeding techniques.

Topics
Fruit and flower morphology, flowering and fertilisation, intra and extra population breeding, breeding scheme's, back crossing, hybridisation and inbred, chromosome and mutation breeding, biotechnological application in plant breeding., case study of multiplication of granes and potatoes.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of plant science en genetics

Final Objectives
After taking the course the students must be able to set up and perform a breeding program.
