Introduction: concepts and properties of fluids. Definition of pressure, measurement and calculation. Forces of fluid at rest on plane and curved surfaces. Linear acceleration and rotational motion. Forces on floating bodies. Equilibrium of a floating body.

Fluid dynamics:
Fluids in motion. Euler and Bernoulli equations. Energy equations. Forces due to change in fluid motion. Real fluid description. Dynamic and cinematic viscosity. Laminar and turbulent flow. Boundary layer. Flow of viscous fluids in pipes. Pressure and velocity distribution in pipes. Resistance and friction. Methods for computing pressure losses in pipes and channels. Shear forces. Series and parallel piping systems. Study of open channel flow.
