Objectives
The managment simulation game aims at giving the students a first insight in the reality of business decision making and management. As such, they get acquainted with the functioning of a firm in a competitive market context. The different aspects of the game require team work, coordination, flexibility and motivation.

Topics
The aspects of the management game are explained in an introductory session. Teams of five students form a company's board of managers. Different management tasks need to be divided : marketing, sales, purchase, personnel, finance... The team members need to devise their company's strategy and formulate decisions in a context of various economic changes, organisational problems, technical and social issues.

Prerequisites
Students should have had an introductory course in economics.

Final Objectives

Materials used
A manual to introduce the (rules of the) management simulation game.

Study costs
About 40 EURO for the manual and the software license. About 140 EURO for accomodation during one week. Activities can be organised by students and subsidised by the departement in order to pay some of these costs.

Study guidance
Introduction to the game. Tutoring during the week when the game is organised.

Teaching Methods
The simulation games takes about four days. If possible, a location is rented for the whole week. All teams operate independently, they can call upon the tutor's advice. During the game some of the following "tasks" will have to be accomplished: multiple choice test about the rules of the game, group presentation.

Assessment
Permanent evaluation (of class work) - Several items of evaluation: See also "onderwijsvormen"
