Key words
Objectives
The course is divided in 3 particles. The aim of the first particle is to
get acquainted with the principles of geodesy, such as models of the earth,
co-ordinate systems, reference systems, geodesical datum, ... The aim of the
second particle is to provide an understanding of the methods used to
represent the earth on a map. The different map projections and
constructions are treated systematically together with the characteristics
of each map. The aim of the third particle is to learn about techniques that
are used when the ordinary land surveying methods and equipment are no
longer sufficient to gather the necessary information.
