Key words Harmony
Objectives - to gain a clear insight into part-writing;
- to develop the harmonic perception;
- to broaden the musical experience and enjoyment trough both an easthetic and a rational approach;
- to aim at the understanding of harmony in support of the practical experience of music teaching.
Topics - triads in root position;
- cadences-tonic and dominant pedals - modulations - sequences.
Prerequisites - a sound basic knowlegde of music theory, especially as regards scales and intervals, is required.

- handbook: E. Geeurickx, 'Functionele harmonie 1', ed.: De Sikkel, 1981
Supplemented by additional assignments from various manuals.
Study costs Approx. 500 BEF or 12,50 EUR.
Study guidance Continuing feedback is guaranteed, given the comments on and corrections of the weekly assignments.
Teaching Methods - both aural awareness and an analytical approach are aimed at;
- music writing skills are developped through harmonizations to be made by the student;
These exercises in part-writing are commented upon and corrected during classes.
Assessment Permanent assessment/ evaluation and / or written examination.
