Objectives
Acquiring an understanding of the environmental differences and the spread of trade on different levels : town, district, region, country, continent, globe.

Moreover, students must be familiar with the economic and political cooperation on an international level.

In the courses General Economic Geography (LM 1) and Transport Geography (LM2) it is tried to find an answer to the questions "What", "Where" and "Why there ?". Students try to make up a database of 'mental maps'.

During excursions students can see the practical application of the theory of physical distribution and the principles of value added logistics.

Topics
First, a short survey of the geography of Belgium is presented.
Then, after an elementary course of cartography, demography, agriculture and the location of industry are studied. Furthermore, an overview of world trade patterns and the most important flows of raw materials is given.
Finally, the principles, instruments and techniques of environmental planning in Flanders are dealt with.
