Objectives Continued practice of the four skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing). Emphasis will be laid, even more than in the first year, on communicative skills in a practical business context and on teamwork.
Continued extension of knowledge of professional terminology.
Continued development of social skills.
Students must be able to consult specialist sources / literature and assimilate these independently; to make this information available to a reader / listener and, in doing so, display a critical disposition and the ability to concretize;to understand and discuss various kinds of numerical data, calculations and evolutions as well as accounting data; tolisten to a discussion and ask questions, separating essentials from side-issues; to participate in a discussion.
Topics Study of texts (e.g. accounts documents), involving both terminology and wording of content; glossary of professional terms.
Various language exercises.
Oral communication (discussions, telephoning, conversations, presentations…).
Prerequisites Required: the basic command of the four skills, such as it may reasonably be expected of someone holding a (general) certificate of secondary education.
Advisable: knowledge, c.q. command of elementary business vocabulary and communicative techniques.
