Objectives
The course will form a complex with the courses on civil law, taught in the 1st and the 2nd years.
The aim of the instruction is to give the student the background knowledge he will need in his later profession.
The student will obtain the ability to solve problems concerning the law of succession and the law of property in marriage.He will be confronted with the different kinds of matrimonial systems. He must be able to make a liquidation of the matrimonial property, departing from the legal system, possibly in combination with a contract of marriage.
He must be able to solve problems concerning a heritage, departing form the legal system and the last will.

During the course the student will be instructed in the following topics:

  • law of obligations
  • special contracts : sale -rent - leasing- deposit - contracting and settlement .


Prerequisites
We take it that the student has already obtained a sound knowledge of the civil law, concerning the matters given in the first and the second year.
He must be able to examine the problem independently and in a juridical way and to solve it.

Course alternated with doctrinal teaching and analysis of legal texts; study of cases and practical situations individually or in group.

Assessment
  • First session : Written examination (80%) and individual assessment or group work.
  • Second session : Written examination (80%) and individual assessment 20%.
  • Examination Board Flemish Community: First and second exam session: written exam 100%
