Objectives to further refine knowledge & skills acquired in the 1st & 2nd years - to enhance the 4 English language skills in various professional communication situations
- to systematically develop general & professional vocabulary
This implies the training of the following professional competencies in order to be able to:- write business texts (letters, reports) in accordance with content, structure, style & language requirements
- to carry on an English conversation fluently & correctly
- listen in an active way in order to respond correctly (meeting, negotiation)
- efficiently research, screen, select, classify & structure online & off line information
These competencies are needed to be able to develop a logical & coherent reasoning & to reword a motivated point of view (oral/written) in the best possible professional English.
The direct link with the professional environment & a multidisciplinary approach are aimed at.
The attitudes aimed at are consequently communicative attitude, accuracy, team spirit, assertiveness, problem solving potential, stress resistance, the ability to respect deadlines, critical reflection & intellectual curiosity.
Topics READING SKILL:
professional up-to-date texts : professional terminology, translation, summary, critical screening & analysis. Comprehension is being enhanced & dialogue stimulated
WRITING SKILL: - business reporting & correspondence

Assignments (see Planning Scheme) : all students do presentations and get various assignments (see items writing skill & communication) requiring preliminary work : screening professional publications, studying professional vocabulary etc..

Assessment
- First examination session : written examination 60% +permanent assessment 40%.
- Second examination session : written examination 60% oral examination 40%.
