Objectives
Students:
- distinguisch the different types of conversations and their methodological approaches within social work
- apply the skills for effective communication (in various situations) and give proof of a deeper understanding of some professional conversation techniques and their methodology
- analyse their own communication style, skills and attitudes as a social worker

Topics
Study of the different types of professional conversation techniques and their methodological approach within social work: a theoretical and practical approach:
- intake
- strategies in consultation
- the communication and transmission of bad news and undiserable information / messages
- conflict managment and mediation
- coping with aggressive behavior and emotional arousal
- intercultural aspects of communication
- motivational interviewing

Prerequisites
Courses are build upon the acquired know-how of communication skills during the first two years of the curriculum

Syllabus (+2nd part syllabus "Conservation Techniques" 2nd year Social Work) and texts.

Syllabus and texts: ± 4 euro

All exercises shall be discussed and corrected in class
