Objectives In this course component, the students learn how to integrate and assimilate the entirety of the subject-matter. The chosen teaching method provides for an authentic, vocational, teacher-learning proces. To bring this integrative project to a successful conclusion, the students are expected to draw heavily on their knowledge and skills acquired from the course modules done previously or elsewhere. This subject expedites the learning of, among other things, the following cross-curricular core skills which a recently-graduated bachelor in applied psychology would be expected to possess. The newly-qualified bachelor in AP will –besides his (or her) metacognitive skills – be able: - regarding his (or her) diagnostic actions, to observe, diagnose, report (oral and written) and advise in response to a request made by a client, principal or client system, this in a professional, critical, deontological en ethically sound way. – regarding the giving of information and advice, to consult, efficiently, with clients, principals, client systems, other welfare agencies, referring and competent bodies, and then analyse and functionally assimilate the information thus obtained. – regarding the giving of information and advice, to objectivily consult and use relevant, evidence-based literature and tools, databases, digital information and software. – in the intervention sphere, to plan and organize the interventions by mutual agreement and participate therein, monitor the progress thereof, verify implementation, and evaluate and fine-tune, where necessary. – in the research sphere, to collaborate, in a scientifically sound way, on psychological research as regards the planning, preparation, execution, processing of the results and reporting on the findings. – in the collaboration sphere, both independently and in multidisciplinary consultations and cooperation, to act within the structure of an organization and within the legal boundaries of his/her position. – in respect of his/her general world view and attitudes, (s)he has an open mind, a readiness to take decisions and a capacity for creative thought. in respect of his/her general world view and attidtudes, (s)he is suitably motivated to acquire new skills troughout his/her working life.

Prerequisites The students have an understanding of the structure and organization of the specialist field [1AP: workplace training] They are fully conversant with the subject-matter of ‘Schoolpsychology and the PGC’ [2AP]. They are fully conversant with the subject-matter of ‘Psychodiagnostics 2’ [2AP]. They already have a grasp of the different psychopathologies [2AP: Psychopathology and psychotherapeutic intervention techniques 1]. They are fully conversant with the subject-matter of ‘biological basis of human behaviour 1 & 2’ [1AP & 2AP]. They are fully conversant with the subject-matter of ‘Health Psychology’ [2AP]. They are fully conversant with the subject-matter of ‘communicative skills 1 & 2’[1AP & 2AP].
Final Objectives The students can actualize, rationally and with the requisite insight, subject-matter acquired earlier or elsewhere relating, among other things, to schoolpsychology, psychodiagnostics, psychopathology and psychotherapeutic intervention techniques, biological basis of human behaviour, health psychology and communicative skills in the context of integrative learning. They collaborate, to high standards of quality, at the young professional level with a preference for group-dynamic processes. They promote, in the context of a young professional approach, a sense of: - mutual respect and deontological ethics towards a target group, fellow teammates or within an organization, - operational independence, self-reliance and responsability in the teamworking with one’s classmates.
Materials used A syllabus on School psychologyand PGC. Other syllabuses fromthe 2nd year Applied Psychology.
Study costs The requisite course materials (if any) for the project: +/- 5 euros.
Study guidance The students are followed up rigorously and supervised during the elaboration of their project.
Teaching Methods The teaching method oriented towards intgrative learning is under consideration at present. Whe shall need to decide between either problem-driven education or case-driven education.The reasons for this choice will be given at the start of the integrative project.
Assessment Based on continous assessment during the meetings of the group and a paper which will be discussed at the end of the year with the lecturer.
