Objectives - A bachelor in AP incorporates the core principles of the psychotherapeutic interview in order that he might perform one of his two main duties – the provision of psychological assistance – effectively.
- This course component provides a general theoretical and practical frame of reference within which the various psychotherapeutic intervention techniques are situated. In Year 3, this frame is broadened and deepened in the course component ‘Optional subject: elective discipline module: clinical psychology’. This course component ties in closely with every specialist subject in the clinical domain.
Topics - Acquire knowledge: Who needs help? The non-directive interview
- Use this knowledge to good purpose: catharsis, deeper insight, psychodynamics and defence mechanisms
- Beyond the knowledge: mediation, therapeutic partnering, the corrective emotional experience, expert advice, counselling and core values.
Prerequisites - The students are well-grounded in the rudiments of communication (1AP: Communicative skills 1)
- The students are well-grounded in the rudiments of psychodiagnostics (1AP: From a cry for help through to the intervention: psychodiagnostics 1)
- The students have a thorough knowledge of the main streams in clinical psychology (1AP: Man and his course of life: psychology)
- The students have a thorough knowledge of the key target groups in psychopathology (2AP: Psychopathology and psychotherapeutic intervention techniques 1).
Final Objectives The student is able:
- by mutual agreement (with the rest of the team or under the supervision of a mentor), to plan and organize the interventions.
- to collaborate on interventions
- to report on how the interventions are progressing.
- to help monitor, evaluate and fine-tune the interventions.
