Key words Analytical chemistry, environmental analysis
Objectives
Theoretical aspects : to give a survey about de pollutants in the environmental compartiments water, soil, river mud and their disadvantageous effects .
Of greater importance is the study of the quantitative chemical analyses for every environmental pollutant in the education for laboratory technician.
Experiments : selected experiments are used to quantitate some anorganic polluents from the environmental compartment water ( surface and ground ) by volumetric and modern instrumental techniques and to compare the results with the local quality standards.
Topics
Theoretical aspects :
Part I : surface and waste water.
Classification , sampling-procedures, oxgen-balance ( BOD and COD ), physical apects, determination of cations and anions, evaluation of water quality
Part II : soil and river mud.
Classification , sampling-procedures , anorganic and organic pollutants of soil and river mud and analytical methods to quantitate them. Local quality standards of soil and river mud.
Experiments : sampling , pH , conductance , BOD , COD , NH4+, Kjeldahl nitrogen. Evaluation of the water quality of some surface waters : Prati index
