Objectives
Students will learn how to execute tests using accompanying procedures and/or norms. They will learn how to use the various testing equipment correctly. The objective is to make the students familiar and handy in executing these laboratory activities. Considerable attention will go to the precision of work, which is of crucial importance in this environment.
Students will become able to use the test results in order to conclude on the quality and the application form of the materials.

Topics
* Tests for colour fastness
* Visit to a specialised laboratory where all test procedures on cotton fibres are demonstrated, using several testing apparatus such as HVI, AFIS, MICRONAIRE, PRESSLEYTESTER, STELOMETER, STATIMAT, ...
* Demonstration of fire resistance properties on fabrics
* Determination of abrasion resistance on tapestry, according to several international standards (with an external laboratory)
* Analysis of several properties on various spinning products

Materials used
teacher's course (2nd year), with information regarding tapestry tests and firetests. Normative documents are available.
