Objectives The systematic integration of relevant language structures.
Students learn technical vocabulary, general vocabulary and economic terminology. They also learn to use it.
Students develop elementary written and oral communication skills for business English.
Students learn to consult simple types of professional literature and understand its contents independently; students are able to understand an oral presentation, distinguish between main points and side issues and formulate questions.
Topics
- Basic grammar and language study (spelling, pronunciation) with exercises
- Communication skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing.
- Basic vocabulary: general and economic.
- Business texts
Prerequisites Students master the four elementary communication skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) based on the general level attained after secondary education.
Students can participate in the initiating course of English. Here the basic knowledge, especially in the grammar area, is tested.
Subsequently the existing problems are discussed and students practise the most typical and obstinate errors and problems.
