Objectives
Systematic integration of language structures.
Students learn technical vocabulary (Business English), general vocabulary and economic terminology, and learn to use it.
Students develop elementary written and oral communication skills for business English.
Students learn to consult simple types of professional literature and how to deal with them; students learn to understand a statement, distinguishing its essential issues, and formulate questions.

Basic grammar and language study (spelling, pronunciation) with exercises Communication skills: speaking, listening, reading, writing.

Prerequisites
Elementary command of listening, reading, speaking and writing skills along the lines established for secondary education.
Students may participate in a preparatory English course. There, basic knowledge, esp. in the grammar field, will be tested. Afterwards, diagnosed problems will be remedied and there will be exercises on the most typical and obstinate problems.

Study guidance
For part of the subject matter, students are coached through continuous assessment.
When either lecturer or student notices difficulties with the subject matter or skills, tutoring will be suggested.

  • First exam session: 30 % continuous assessment and 70 % written exam
