Objectives The subject STATISTICS plays a supporting role. By doing exercises students' ability to think and reason is developed and the students are taught to acquire and assimilate information.
Topics The course consists of three parts :
1. basic concepts, collecting information, sampling techniques
2. classifying and presenting data by means of tables and graphs
3. determining statistic indicators:- parameters of central trends
- dispersion parameters
Prerequisites Elementary arithmetical operations.
Final Objectives Professional knowledge: basic knowledge of statistics and graphs.
Professional skills: Making statistics.
Materials used Course book: ±150 p of photocopies available from the Course Service
Hand-outs (PowerPoint) to be downloaded from the internet
Study costs Course book at the current Hogeschool Gent rate
Study guidance It is important to study the lessons immediately and to do the exercises regularly.
