Objectives
Knowledge of social case work as a discipline. Different aspects of social case work, concept of society and public welfare.
Students learn to guide children and adolescents in the educational process. Therefore he has knowledge of the psychology of child development and educational principles.
Het learns to make reflections about his own educational values and other influences (micro- meso- and macrolevel) of the educational process.
He knows theoretical models in the pedagogy.


Topics
Partim (ped)agogy: Starting by analysing definitions, we treat social case work in a a hystorical perspective and end with the actual concepts in the field. Different aspects of the theory are related to other disciplines such as pedagogy, special education, educational institutions.
Partim child development and education: Child and adolescent development: intellectual, fysical, social and emotional aspects.
Educational theories about the relationship between child and parents, principles of the democratic education style, influences of family and it's structure, influences of changing society.
Theme's such as playing, eating, bedtime and sleeping, going tot school, tv-watching,... are treated in a deeper way during sessions in small groups.

Final Objectives
We want to give basic notions of child development and education so the student can rely on these insights to reflect about his education style and to justify his educational acts.
By starting with the common questions in education, students acquire a basic knowledge in function of special education.
