Objectives
The course English pays attention to aspects of oral communication as well as written communication. You must realise that in the business world it is a necessity to be able to communicate succesfully in English. That is why you must be able to understand and interpret a written or oral text. For the same reason you should also be able to put a message correctly into words.

4. Listening skill: business-oriented and/or professional training-oriented conversations
5. Speaking skill: pronunciation exersises, passive knowledge of phonetic symbols, business-oriented communication
6. Writing skill: spelling, translations, correspondence

Guided Independent Learning (GIL)
Exercises in an electronic learning environment:

- in order to improve your telephoning skills.

Final Objectives
The competences at which will be worked profoundly are:

1. Oral and written communication skills
* You are able to use the basic grammar.
* You are able to understand and use a general, business-oriented and professional training-oriented vocabulary.
* You are able to understand and interpret business-oriented and professional training-oriented texts and conversations (reading skill and listening skill).
* You are able to formulate your message fluently, clearly, concisely and correctly in various businesslike situations (speaking skill and writing skill).

2. Independence (through GIL)
* You are able to complete an individual task successfully under supervision.
* You ask for advice when necessary.

Teaching Methods
The teaching methods are adapted to the various parts of the syllabus: learning conversations, sessions with exercices, GIL and self-assessment tests.
Outside the contact moments (= classes) you have to prepare exercices.

Assessment
There are two ways of evaluation:
* written tests that assess the command of the language on the basis of GIL: 30% (during the semester) - open and closed questions, multiple choice;
* an oral exam: 70% (during the examination period) - preparation time is provided.

Second examination session: written part (30%) + oral part (70%)
In the second examination session the written and oral part will be examined on the same day.
