Objectives
The students gain a basic knowledge in connection with music theory, song and recorder playing. They develop their own musical expression abilities. We take the line that the initial situation of the students is very heterogeneous and that their musical foreknowledge is very poor or non-existent.
At the end of the first year of study, the students are able to elaborate 2 musical activities with primary school children in a musically justified way.
The students gain insight in the meaning of music for the general development of a child.

Topics
The course contains several parts which are in principle dealt with throughout the year.
Music theory in function of class practice. Primary school songs occupy a central place. Much attention is paid to practising. The recorder is used as a means to analyse and learn primary school songs.
Voice and hearing training occupy a central place. Much attention is paid to movement in function of music.
Teaching methodology: 2 musical activities.

Study costs
- recorder course book, book (about BEF 2,000 or EUR 49.58;
- creative practical training: BEF 1,500 or EUR 37.18.

Study guidance
monitoring, practice cassettes, in the event of serious problems the students are referred to a speech therapist.

- preparation and evaluation of practical training,
Generally speaking, a regular attendance and an active participation in the lessons is essential.

Assessment
Oral and written examination in February and/or June.
