Objectives
Transporting goods and having them shipped become ever more important in today's world. National and international transports and distribution are very important as well. This course treats ocean and inland shipping. Attention is also paid to Short Sea Shipping.Strong competition constantly leads to questions on how existing methods can be made more cost efficient. This requires broad, and both practical and theoretical know-how for future jobs.

Students need to analyse relevant information efficiently and at the same time appropriate an attitude of lifelong learning by e.g. researching articles and information on the internet in order to illustrate the subject.

Topics
Part 1: inland shipping is an introduction to exploration in the other maritime mode of transport.

Part 2: the growing importance of Short Sea Shipping is highlighted in the context of mobility issues.

Part 3: the international mode: ocean shipping. Environmental aspects are studied in comparison with other modes of transport. S.s. is explored further and linked to economic activity.
Each part concerns itself with the shipping document.
A flow chart to and from linked documents is developed along with services at a port.

Attention is always paid to topicality and its exploration in selected topics.
