Objectives
French I is a link between the competencies acquired in secondary school and the professional competencies which will be developed later.
The students develop their communication skills using authentic material and situations linked to the line of study chosen.
They also develop job-related competencies (see further).
The four communicative skills are developed (listening, reading, speaking and writing), but also certain attitudes (being critical, having an eye for quality, creativity, precision and accuracy, self-confidence, being co-operative). All this is the basis for the more professional competencies, which will occur later in the programme.

Topics
  • General, economic and professional French by means of texts, vocabulary lists, audio visual materials
  • Exercises on those communicative skills required of the employee in typical job situations.
  • Recapitulation of basic French grammar, with exercises.


Prerequisites
Students are expected to have the following attitudes: motivation, inquisitiveness and perseverance.
They have attained the general level after secondary education.
Students are recommended to attend the introductory course French if they do not know how to form and use the tenses or have difficulties with concord.
