Objectives SPREADSHEETS
Students get acquainted with spreadsheets. They should especially be able to use this software in business contexts.
Students have to learn how to work on their own accurately in marketer practice. They should e.g. be able to make sales forecasts, to make and manage budgets, to use data for graphs, …
Students will need the skills taught here for different subjects like marketing strategy, price policy, B2B and personal sales …
DATABASE MANAGEMENT
Students get acquainted with databases. They should be able to make and use a database using Office software.
Students should know the main capabilities of database software and how to use Help to increase their skills.
Students should be able to execute a number of assignments efficiently and on their own within a given time.
Students have to be able to think towards the solution of a problem and to work meticulously.

DATABASE MANAGEMENT- Basic terminology of database software

Prerequisites
- Being able to use standard possibilities of the operating system and having basic keyboard skills.
- Elementary command of the basic functions of spreadsheets is advisable. This starting level will be diagnosed in an initial test in order to be able to differentiate during the first classes and allow some students to catch up
- Should a student not have elementary skills in working with spreadsheets, it is advisable to take the introductory 'Excel' course.

Study guidance
- Diagnostic test at the start of classes to determine whether students have elementary skills in spreadsheets, so differentiation is possible during the first weeks
- Coaching during guided self-study
Teaching Methods
- Students get acquainted with the software through interactive classes, guided and individual exercises on the PC.
- The lecturer will coach students and correct them wherever necessary during self-study on various exercises and assignments they prepared on their own in advance.
Assessment SPREADSHEETS - 60%- First exam session: 80% exam on PC: executing assignments within the time limit - and continuous assessment 20%
- Second exam session: 100% exam on PC: executing assignments within the time limit
DATABASE - 40%- First exam session: 100% exam on PC: executing assignments within the time limit
- Second exam session: 100% exam on PC: executing assignments within the time limit
Students registered for the examinations only: either session: 100% exam on PC: executing assignments within the time limit.
Students who did not succeed yet got at least 10/20 for either part of the examination, do not have to be re-examined for this part in the second term of the same academic year. They do, however, have to do the exam for the part for which they had less than 10/20, otherwise they will be considered absent for the both subjects.
