Objectives
- The course is part of a unit with subjects of Civil Law in the second and third years
- Students are expected to acquire the necessary judicial and practical background for Civil Law that they will need in later professional life.
- Students acquire skills in drafting, interpreting and solving problems in the field of personal and family law.
- Students are taught and trained how and where judicial sources are to be found, consulted and interpreted. Students learn how to handle all forms of judicial documentation and / or information available.
- Students assemble a folder on current events in the field of civil law in order to develop an attitude for lifelong learning.
- Students will need skills acquired in this course in other courses in later years of the training (e.g. other courses, internship, final paper).
Topics Civil law
This course further explores "General and civil law" topics. It is the first part of the three-year course on Civil Law.
During this first part, Person and Family Law as present in our Civil Code are taught.
Attention is also paid to:- Where to find the law (official and unofficial sources, … )
- Where to find jurisprudence
- Where to find legal doctrine.
Students will get a task linked to the study of source material within the framework of the course.
Students will prepare this task in writing and may be asked to present it in class.
The aim is to further autonomous judicial work and thinking.
