Doelstellingen
We are said to be moving to an information or knowledge society. Information and knowledge have acquired strategic importance also as a resource for today's companies. But how can the value of particular knowledge are assessed? How can knowledge be managed? And how is information technology to be deployed to enhance the use of knowledge?

Leerinhoud
The question of the value of information and of information assembling devices (computers). The issue of the lifetime of information. The need to structure business information. Can a company measure the value of internal knowledge and expertise? How to manage the information flow in a company? How-to create a framework to collect and distribute information in a business environment? Knowledge discovery processes: decision trees, association rules, neural networks, genetic algorithms, OLAP tools, data warehouses and data mining. Knowledge systems: rule based systems, induction systems, expert systems, and other areas of artificial intelligence.

Basic knowledge of computers is required

Eindcompetenties
1) The student should be able to understand the techniques of knowledge distribution and knowledge development in an organization.
2) Understanding the scientific-disciplinary basic knowledge typical for the domain.

Weekly sessions of two hours. Assignments.
