This course gives an overview of hardware and software concerning operating systems and networking

Topics
Technical aspects concerning hardware
Some items are: network architecture (ethernet, token ring, lan, wan, cabling, fiberglass cabling, UTP, bridges and routers, OSI 7 layers model, cobra, etc.)
The structure of internet
Clients, servers and protocol. Lan technology. Evolutions in telecommunication. Client server architecture. Security (firewalls, redundancy)
Operating systems (unix, windows NT, recent evolutions)

Prerequisites
A general knowledge of information theory is expected. Programming knowledge is not necessary.
