Objectives The student must be able to formulate a scientific well-founded nutrition for calves, heifers and beef cattle, based on a profound physiological knowledge of these animals in the different production-phases. Hereby he/she also has to take into account the involved economical, zootechnical and ecological parameters and the consumer's demands for the quality of animal end products.
Topics Feeding of calves and heifers:
- Important physiological parameters for the feeding of replacement calves
- Practical feeding of calves taking into account the zoo technical, economical, labour-technical and health factors
- Feeding of the heifer taking into account the effect on her production capacity as high producing dairy cow
- Feeding of meat calves, suckling cows, reform cows, steers, bulls and heifers
Prerequisites Profound knowledge of the physiology of cattle
