Key words Laboratory exercices in biochemical analysis
Objectives The care for quality in bio-industries asks for quick, efficient and reliable analysis methods.
Experimental exercices make it possible to learn lab methods with different applications.
These experiments are executed in little groups and the results are discussed.
Topics Cell culture and transformation techniques.
Analysis of DNA with denaturation profiles, hybridisation, PCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis.
Chromatographic separation of nucleic acids, immunological detection and reactions.
ATP-measurements and the use of luminescence and fluorescence in biochemical analysis.
PAGE and blotting of proteins.
Prerequisites Profound knowledge and practical experience of enzymology, microbiology and biochemistry.
Final Objectives General scientific competences
Students are able to perform accurate biochemical analysis and implement new techniques.
General technical competences :
Students are able to understand the theoretical background of practical experiments.
General competences
They should be able to work as a team to reach good results of their biochemical experiments
Specific competences [SC ]
They are able to make a good report and to reflect on results and discussions.
