Objectives
For a pianist, accompanying is a standard aspect of the profession.
Good accompaniment pre-supposes specific skills that have not yet been dealt with during the programme. Therefore, this subject is part of the Master curriculum.

Topics
This study unit trains the student to accompany both vocalists and instrumentalists. Attention is paid to rehearsal technique, to empathy with the fellow student’s or the vocalist’s interpretation, to adaptability to both instrumental and vocal sound types, to the sharpening of reading technique, to play reflexes and to analytic capability.

Organisation
The subject unit ‘Accompaniment’ is coordinated and coached by a lecturer.
In addition to the tutorials monitored by a coach, the student also acquires practical experience by accompanying Bachelor students.
They assume the accompaniment of a number of works of music by a student from an instrument or voice class. The class lecturer will act as the tutor.
They will accompany the fellow student during the lectures and, after consultation, may also accompany the fellow student’s class exams.
Detailed information will be provided by the coach at the start of the academic year.
