Objectives
The study unit Music Theatre Training and Projects provides for the optimum development and refining of a professional singer's basic skills. In addition to the acquisition of musical theatre skills, this offers the ideal way for the acquired singing technique to be used and deepened. The study unit contributes to a high extent to the growth of collaboration skills, organisational capabilities and communicative skills. To a high extent, the study unit contributes to the development of the research attitude; there is strong vertical congruence with the study units ‘Instrument/voice Solo Practice’, ‘Score Analysis’, ‘Music History’, ‘Choir’, ‘Harmony and Counterpoint’, Research Methodology’.

Topics
The study unit ‘Music Theatre Training and Projects’ consists partly of fixed lectures on fixed dates, and partly of project blocks.
The students are coached with the individual students themselves, their voice and their skills in mind, and coaching is therefore structured topically. The subject’s musical fragments and texts are chosen in consultation between students and lecturers and in function of the projects. The texts, whether sung or not, are analysed linguistically and semantically. For sung texts this is then followed by an analysis of the score: there is a search for the intentions of the composer and of the librettist / lyricist. The rational information is then integrated emotionally, resulting, for the sung fragments, first in a vocally interpretative work, and then in stage management confronting the singer /actor with the acting /singing expression of movement.
