Objectives
Learning how to use present-day professional software is absolutely necessary to survive in an automated business environment. The course aims at familiarising students with a word processor. Students not only practise the more basic skills in order to become professional, fast users of the software, but they also learn to master some of the more advanced techniques and skills. In this way, they can use the technology efficiently and professionally.

Topics
Word Processing: formatting of letter, paragraph and page; sections, headers and footers, page numbering; fields, styles, numbering headings, notes, table of contents, tables; templates, mailing, using graphics.

Prerequisites
To attend this course, students need to be familiar with the basic functions of a word processing programme on a computer.
Basic computer literacy (in an MS Windows environment) is required (working within the Windows environment, working with files and directories, …).

Final Objectives
  1. Knowledge and application of advanced functions of word processing
    Indicators:
    • provide a professional layout to letters and documents
    • be able to use the advanced functions of a word processing programme
    • be able to use the word processing programme effectively and efficiently
  2. General and job-related skills and attitudes
    Indicators:
    • be able to carry out an assignment with the help of a word processor
    • have a critical attitude towards the data to be processed in order to process them precisely and accurately
    • show some creativity in providing the processed material with a layout
    • look for a solution spontaneously when there are problems using the word processing programme
