Objectives
The students learn the basic principles and techniques for oral translation in order to transfer an English text of general nature into a proper and idiomatic Turkish.

Topics
The course consists of:
- consecutive interpreting without notes, using texts of increasing length; the aim of this part is primarily to train the students’ memories
- consecutive interpreting with notes, with the aim of mastering note-taking technique

Prerequisites
Advanced knowledge of English and Turkish.

Final Objectives
The students can orally transfer an English text of general nature and a medium degree of difficulty into fluent and idiomatic Turkish.

Teaching Methods
Practicals in which the interpreting skills are trained.

Assessment
Continuous assessment (30%) and oral exam (70%) at the end of the course.
In the 2nd examination period the continuous assessment is replaced by additional exercises in the oral exam.
